Snowing in Egypt
I arrived in Egypt several days ago. After being spoiled by Thai sun and heat, I am freezing in my Cairo apartment as the temperature drops to +5 at night. Imagine traditional Egyptian house with poor insulation and no heating system. That’s my reality now.
They say: “But you’re Russian, you’re not supposed to complain about cold weather, it snows in Russia, you know?”
– “Well, no shit Sherlock, it snows in Russia, no doubt about that. But when the temperature goes below +10 degrees, the heating kicks in. I used to wear a t-shirt at home in winter, because our houses are warm, and houses in Egypt are incredibly cold. If it is +10 outside, rest assured it will be +8 indoors. Zero insulation, huge holes and lack of common sense to be blamed.”
A lot of people think that it is always hot in Egypt, the land of pyramids and sand.
