Aquatilis: an epic underwater adventure to explore the life of sea creatures
An extraordinary scientific project from Russia is about to woo the world of art and photography. Biologists from the White Sea Biological Station (WSBS) (Russian: Беломорская биологическая станция МГУ) are organizing a world tour to explore the life of extraordinary underwater creatures.
Biologists from WSBB study marine life and take high resolution pictures of the sea creatures. Alexandr Semyonov is a leading scientist from WSBB is also a prominent blogger. Here is his blog in Russian: shilovpope
His blog is full of incredible underwater pictures:
Alexandr and his team are currently organizing a three-year-long world expedition to study and take high-res pictures of unusual planktonic organisms.
Here is what he says about the project:
“We want to raise the standards of scientific photography, to show that science can be beautiful. And let people know that Russian scientists are cheerful cool guys, who can explain what they are doing and why in simple terms.”
The quality of their work is fascinating.
Right now they are trying to collect enough funds to organize their world scientific expedition. Alexandr and his team have already collected more than a half of the needed amount via Kickstarter – a Russian crowdfuding platform. You can support their initiative by donating money here.
